Carmelo Anthony Trade Talks Still Open, Cavaliers, Clippers And Celtics Still In Contention

The Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Clippers are reportedly still looking for a potential Carmelo Anthony trade. Both teams have been linked to trade talks involving the All-Star forward in the past.

The first roadblock that any NBA team has to hurdle with a potential Carmelo Anthony trade is his no-trade clause. This could be difficult as Anthony seem to cherish his time in New York. According to the undefeated, Anthony still prefers to stay in New York and play with the Knicks.

Even with the no-trade clause road block, a number of NBA teams have still explored a Carmelo Anthony trade with the Knicks. According to ESPN, both the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Clippers have not completely ruled out getting Carmelo Anthony via trade.

Though Melo has been very vocal about his preference to stay in New York, sources close to the player have revealed that the preference may not be that strong. The All-Start forward is reportedly open to the idea of waiving his no-trade clause if doing so will present more opportunities for him.

Right now, the only teams that present more opportunities for Melo are the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Clippers. Though Celtics are still in the mix of potential trade partners, it is highly unlikely for Melo to waive his no-trade clause to go to a team that will likely be defeated by the LeBron James-ledCavaliers.

The Cavs has the trade pieces to go after Melo. The Cavs can offer Kevin Love for the Carmelo Anthony trade or can even offer a bunch of role players to maintain its current big three and just add Melo to the mix.

Imagine a starting line-up that features Kyrie Irving, LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Love and Tristan Thompson. LeBron James with all his athleticism and basketball savvy can play the two-guard spot and be dominant.

With the Feb. 23 NBA trade deadline drawing closer, the potential blockbuster trades may just go down to the wire. The Carmelo Anthony trade talks will be over soon
