Chicago Bulls is still open to trade talks involving their All-Star forward. According to reports, the Bulls may listen to Jimmy Butler trade offers if it involves getting first-round draft picks.
According to ESPN, the Chicago Bulls is looking to get a first-round draft pick that is projected to be in the top five for a Jimmy Butler trade. Aside from the draft pick, the Bulls is also asking for a top prospect and a starter caliber player in exchange for its All-Star forward.
With Bulls' demands, the only suitable NBA trade partner would be the Boston Celtics. The Celtics currently hold the draft picks of Brooklyn Nets. The Nets pick for the next NBA draft has the potential to become the number one pick.
To satisfy the demand of Chicago Bulls for a starter and a top prospect, the Celtics will have to decide on who among Marcus Smart, Avery Bradley and Jae Crowder would be sent to Chicago. According to CBSSports, the Bulls will go after Jae Crowder to make the Jimmy Butler trade happen.
Going after Jae Crowder is a logical move for the Bulls. Butler is not only their top offensive player but is widely considered as one of the league's best perimeter defenders. Getting Crowder in exchange for Butler will mitigate the losses that Chicago will be experiencing defensively if the Jimmy Butler trade happens.
However, Danny Ainge seems to prefer not to lose Crowder in the Butler trade. Celtics will have a formidable perimeter defense with the former Marquette team mates manning their defense, this is the very reason why Ainge may be hesitant to let go of Crowder.
If ever Boston successfully completed the Jimmy Butler trade deal without letting go of Crowder, the team may actually be able to stand toe-to-toe against the Cavaliers. A line-up with Isiah Thomas, Marcus Smart, Jimmy Butler, Jae Crowder and Al Horford is not only defensively sound but can also produce offensively.
