NFL Rumor Roundup: Kirk Cousins to Cleveland, Dont'a Hightower in Pittsburgh and More!

The NFL offseason is heating with a lot of rumors and speculations. The latest NFL rumor roundup is headlined by the Cleveland Browns showing interest in Kirk Cousins of the Washington Redskins, along with Dont'a Hightower getting an offer sheet from the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Browns interested in acquiring Kirk Cousins

The Browns are looking for a new quarterback as usual and they have reported set their sights on Kirk Cousins of the Washington Redskins. According to CSN Mid-Atlantic, the Browns are ready to trade the No. 12 pick in this year's draft and $24 million of Cousins' salary from Washington.

However, it should be noted that these are just purely speculative and there is no official word if the two teams are indeed talking about a trade. But if the Browns acquire Cousins, they will have a Pro Bowl quarterback who can give Cleveland wins before he hits free agency.

Dont'a Hightower gets offer sheet from Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers met with free agent linebacker Dont'a Hightower on Tuesday and they offered him a deal. However, a deal was not signed and Hightower left Pittsburgh still a free agent, as reported by The Boston Globe. He is still expected to meet with the Patriots and possible sign a new deal.

Hightower helped New England win their fifth Super Bowl title last month. As for the Steelers, they are looking for a replacement for veteran linebacker Lawrence Timmons, who signed with the Miami Dolphins after ten seasons in Pittsburgh.

Eagles looking to trade one of their wide receivers

The Philadelphia Eagles are open to trading one of their three young wide receivers, per Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports. Nelson Agholor, Dorial Green-Beckham or Jordan Matthews are expected to get traded since the team has a glut of wide receivers.

Philly has been busy this offseason as they already added veteran wide receivers Alshon Jeffery and Torrey Smith via free agency. The Eagles have also reportedly shopped center Jason Kelce and linebacker Mychal Kendricks.

Patriots' Malcolm Butler to visit Saints this week

According to Alec Brzezinski of Sporting News, restricted free agent cornerback Malcolm Butler is set to visit the New Orleans Saints on Thursday. The Saints are interested in Butler, who was rumored to be part of the Brandin Cooks trade to Patriots but New Orleans decided to just send a draft pick.

Butler is a restricted free agent and he can sign an offer sheet with the Saints. However, the Patriots can match the offer but they can also decide to just let the Saints sign him. This is because New Orleans can lose the 11th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.
