Lomachenko Sends Tremor to McGregor Camp

The proposed Floyd Mayweather, Jr.- Conor McGregor clash having went online, some big names in boxing also surfaced in order to offer adverse criticism on what appears to be a bizarre match-up.  Others defended it.  A few more others declared their eagerness for a possible clash with the MMA star themselves. Vasyl Lomachenko is the most recent to enter the club that includes the great Manny Pacquiao and the now fading Ricardo Mayorga.

Vasyl Lomachenko, who is one of only two boxers in boxing history to have ever won a world title in only their 3rd professional fight, has recently expressed his wish to date McGregor in a boxing ring.  Lomachenko, 29, is a Ukrainian former Olympian winning two gold medals for his country, one in the 2008 Beijing Olympics and another one in the 2012 Beijing Olympics. For having collected 396 wins, with only one loss but was twice avenged, has placed him in the ranks as the greatest amateur boxer of all time.

For his part, Conor McGregor at a young age was already making noise in his native Ireland in MMA - and went on to reach the popular UFC in the US after having been signed by Dana White, the sitting UFC president. Thus far in his career, Conor McGregor, 28, is the reigning UFC lightweight champion. He is also a former featherweight champion in UFC, a major title he won by knocking out the once feared Jose Aldo of Brazil. The knockout occurring in the first 13 seconds into the first round is currently a record to break for the fastest victory ever recorded in UFC history.

His mind and body having been used and conditioned to MMA rules, where kicking and submission holds are, often times than not, even greater weapons than pure punching, McGregor is in a very disadvantaged end in a pure boxing match. Leave alone against grandmasters of the  boxing art like Mayweather or Lomachenko. Going up against Mayweather, McGregor would probably be hitting air all night. Against Lomachenko, he should be very busy protecting himself from punches that come like swarming bees - from many angles and from many directions.
