According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, CBS Sports is in pursuit of Tony Romo and they want him to replace Simms, who has been with the company since 1998. He is currently working with Jim Nantz on Thursday Night Football and CBS Sports' Sunday game headlines.
However, CBS Sports is not the only sports network that wants to hire Tony Romo if he decides to retire. FOX Sports have also shown interest in the 36-year-old quarterback and they want him to cover NFL games for them.
Tony Romo is still a very good player and he could be a starting quarterback for several teams. He has been sidelined for the majority of the past couple of seasons due to injuries. He was demoted as the backup quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys after the emergence of rookie Dak Prescott.
According to FOX Sports, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has set a deadline regarding the team's decision on Tony Romo's future. The billionaire will make a decision before training camp that starts sometime in July. That's a long time to make a decision but many people believe that the Cowboys will release Romo.
If the Cowboys indeed release Tony Romo, he has a lot of options including signing with a different team and try to win his first Super Bowl title. Teams that have been linked to Romo include the Chicago Bears, Denver Broncos and Houston Texans.
The Texans are the favorites to sign him if he decides to continue his player career. But if he decides to hang it up, he can pursue a career in broadcasting or just be a stay-at-home dad. He has two sons with wife, Candice Crawford, with a third baby on the way this year.
