NFL News: San Francisco 49ers Coach Explains WhyColin Kaepernick Isn't Needed In His Team

Colin Kaepernick is currently the hot topic in NFL draft and is one of the top free agent quarterbacks in the league. He opted out of his contract from the 49ers and since then no team has offered him the role. This provoked a debate whether every NFL team is blackballing Kaepernick.

49ers coach Kyle Shanahan explains why Kaepernick isn't needed in his team. Shanahan claims Colin has had a great career and has done some really great things in the game and for the 49ers, he has a certain skill-set which can be put on a specific offense that can be very successful.

The 49ers haven't offered a contract to any of the top four quarterbacks in NFL last season, in which they went 2-14 under the guidance of Chip Kelly. They signed Brian Hoyer and Matt Barkley both of whom played on a 3-13 Chicago Bears team. San Francisco also has a No.2 in their draft pick.

Shanahan looked at the offensive direction of the team when Kaepernick was playing and he wasn't happy with the direction. So he decided to change the player in the quarterback position.

Shanahan has coached Hoyer in Cleveland back in 2014, as an offensive coordinator for the Browns. He praised the work done by Hoyer for the team and some of his plays, who is on his seventh team. The coach likes Brian and the type of player he is.

Shanahan added saying if the quarterbacks don't do the execution well and go for it, then it doesn't matter what the O-line and receivers are doing at their own end. Hoyer is a smart, well-equipped player when it comes to hanging on a pocket of space and waiting for opportunities is on display. He is fearless and delivers the ball on right spots when needed.
