Jeremy Lin had a very difficult first season with the Brooklyn Nets. He missed more than half of the season due to injuries and the Nets were the worst team in the NBA. However, Lin is still thankful to God for the experience he had in his first year in Brooklyn.
The 28-year-old point guard signed a three-year, $36 million deal with the Nets last summer. He decided to join Brooklyn to prove to himself and to every one of his doubters that he can still start for an NBA team. He was also convinced by head coach Kenny Atkinson, who helped Jeremy Lin during his "Linsanity" run in New York back in 2012.
However, Jeremy Lin endured a couple of injuries that knocked him out for a total of 46 games this season. The Nets suffered from Lin's absence as evident by their record of 1-27 after he re-injured his hamstring after Christmas Day.
Jeremy Lin came back after the All-Star break and helped the Nets become a more formidable team. The Nets had a sub .500 record of 11-13 in the final two months of the regular season, per NBA.com. Although they finished the season with a league-worst, 20-62, they were able to prove to everyone that they would have been very competitive if Lin was healthy all season long.
In an email by Jeremy Lin to CBN News, he revealed that he is thankful to God for the blessings he received in his first year in Brooklyn despite his injury troubles. Lin also appreciates his teammates for rallying in the final two months of the season.
"I'm really thankful to be on the team with these guys. Even though we have the worst record in the NBA, I know how hard these guys work and what kind of teammates they are. So, I'm genuinely thankful to God for this season's experience to be able to play alongside them," Lin said.
Jeremy Lin and the Nets are going to busy this offseason. They have the second largest cap space in the league and they can attract key free agents this summer to make the Nets even more competitive.
