The Los Angeles Lakers enter the offseason with a new regime in the front office with general manager Rob Pelinka and team president Magic Johnson. The Lakers are going all in this summer as the rumors suggest that all players on the roster including Brandon Ingram are not safe from any trades.
In an appearance on AM570 with Fred Roggin and Rodney Pete, Mark Medina of the LA Daily News noted that Pelinka is going to be very aggressive in the trade market. Although he likes the current core of the Lakers, he wants to make a splash but it has to be a great deal.
Medina added that since Kobe Bryant is no longer with the Lakers, no player is safe. It is despite the potential of these players that include Brandon Ingram, D'Angelo Russell, Julius Randle, Ivica Zubac, Larry Nance Jr. and Jordan Clarkson.
"If I had to guess, there are definitely going to be changes made. But as far as who stays and who leaves, it's obviously hard to tell at this point. No one is safe. They don't have a Kobe Bryant on the team anymore, so everyone is on the table right now," Medina said.
According to Anthony Irwin of SB Nation, the Lakers possible target this offseason is Paul George of the Indiana Pacers. George has expressed his unhappiness in Indiana but they still are in a middle of a playoff series so the Lakers can only observe.
"PG13" is a native of Los Angeles and he has hinted about his desire to play for his hometown team. He is still has a year left before he can become a free agent but the Lakers can speed up the process by acquiring him via trade this summer.
Paul George has been very discontented with the progress of the Pacers in the past couple of years. He recently called out a couple of his teammates after the first two games against the Cleveland Cavaliers. He told reporters that C.J. Miles should have passed him the ball in Game 1 while he believes Lance Stephenson should be focused against the Cavaliers.
