Shakhtar Donetsk coach Mircea Lucescu will hope that the team can find some offense as its lack of goal scoring has been a thorn in its side throughout the Champions League so far after scoring just three goals in four games, but the team can still advance to the knockout stages with two games to go.
Donetsk hosts Real Sociedad looking to improve on their scoring touch and their third place standing in Group A.
"We have in our first-team squad - in midfield and in attack - probably the youngest players in the Champions League,'' Lucescu said per ESPN. ''Goals, unfortunately, cannot be scored due to talent alone. They are often scored due to a lot of experience; unfortunately our players do not have that much of it."
Lucescu believes his team has played well but just can't find the back of the net.
"Except, perhaps, the match in Leverkusen (a 4-0 defeat) we played very well against all of our rivals and had the advantage, he said via ESPN. "Unfortunately our finishing is not perfect yet - this is our problem. I wish we could play tomorrow at least on the same level as we did at home against Manchester United (1-1) and Bayer (0-0) with lady luck shining on us a bit.''
Sociedad doesn't have much to look forward to as the team has yet to notch a win and its chances realistically are slim to none of advancing.
Still, forward Chori Castro says the team hasn't given up hope and is confident it can win its next two games and will hope that some other results go their way to enable to them to advance to the knockout round.
"Let's go with the thing in mind that it's not impossible,'' Castro said, according to ESPN. ''We will need to remain calm. There's no point going crazy from the off because if you go behind against this type of team, it's very hard to turn things around.''
Donetsk looks to find its scoring touch while Sociedad searches for its first win when these teams collide today.
