Floyd Mayweather Wins Another Title: The World's Highest Paid Celebrity

Undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. was adjudged as the richest celebrity by Forbes Magazine in its recently released list of world's highest-paid stars for 2018.

According to Forbes Magazine, Mayweather earned $275 million in 2018, mainly due to his fight against UFC star Conor McGregor. Mayweather improved his immaculate record to 50-0 following a 10th round knockout win over McGregor. Considered as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world, the 41-year-old Mayweather won titles in five different weight classes.

Aside from being a main attraction, Mayweather was also a promoter of his fight against McGregor, increasing his income beyond the fight purse and the pay-per-view revenue. The Mayweather-McGregor fight earned around $550 million in revenue and became the second highest-grossing pay-per-view fight in history with 4.3 million buys. Mayweather's fight against Manny Pacquiao remains No. 1 with 4.6 million buys.

Mayweather's $275 million income for 2018 pushed him past the $1 billion mark in terms of career earnings. McGregor, for his part, came in at No. 12 with earnings of $99 million, mostly from his fight against Mayweather.

Mayweather Edged George Clooney, Kylie Jenner

Mayweather edged celebrities such as George Clooney, Kylie Jenner, and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in terms of income in 2018. The 57-year-old Clooney came in second with $239 million in earnings in 2018, while self-made billionaire Kylie Jenner, 20, earned around $166.5 million. Earlier, Forbes estimated Jenner's net worth at $900 million.

Coming in at No. 5 is the 46-year-old Johnson, who earned $124 million, while band U2 pocketed around $118 million. Another band, Coldplay, came in at No. 7 with earnings of $115.5 million while football star Lionel Messi was eighth with $111 million. Singer Ed Sheeran earned $110 million while Cristiano Ronaldo came in 10th with earnings of $108 million.

Sean Combs Dropped From No. 1 to No. 32

Last year's No. 1, Sean "Diddy" Combs dropped to No. 32 from $130 million to just $64 million in 2018. According to Forbes, Combs' total last year was increased by his tour and his revenue from his Sean John clothing line.

Several NFL players also made it to the list, including quarterbacks Matt Ryan of the Atlanta Falcons, Matthew Stafford of the Detroit Lions, Derek Carr of the Oakland Raiders, Alex Smith of the Washington Redskins, Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints, Jimmy Garoppolo of the San Francisco 49ers and Ryan Tannehill of the Miami Dolphins.

Ryan ($67.3 million) is No. 29, Stafford is No. 36 with $59.5 million, Brees is No. 67 ($42.9 million), Carr is No. 70 with $42.1 million, Smith is No. 72 with $41.4 million, Garoppolo is No. 90 with $36.2 million while Tannehill is No. 96 with $35.2 million.
