FIFA President Gianni Infantino finalized a decision for Japan to host the FIFA Club World Cup 2021 in winter.

The FIFA 2021 launch was delayed due to the current pandemic. As part of Infantino's plan, Japan will take its part in the extended competition.

"Due to the Covid-19 situation, which has led to the postponement of the revamped new Club World Cup...we've decided to organize a Club World Cup in the current format again in 2021 in December and we awarded the hosting rights to Japan," Infantino said in a FIFA conference.

The coronavirus pandemic shuffled the UEFA EURO 2020 and Copa America in March. This not only drove the countries to resort to more postponements but it also rescheduled the arranged dates. June and July will likely be the dates for the delayed competitions.

January will be the scheduled date for the Copa Libertadores to be played in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The last time Japan hosted was in 2016, with eight hostings that happened before that.

This year prompts a big challenge to the organization. The FIFA 2021 will see more room for the competitions, as two FIFA World Cup tournaments will be held in the same year.

The 2020 edition will be entrusted to Qatar on February 1-11. The East Asian country, on the other hand, will prepare to spearhead the 2021 edition during winter.

FIFA 2020 could have pushed through if there is no pandemic scare. This brought December to be dismissed as an available date.

Representatives from Asia, Africa, South America, and CONCACAF Nations League are still unresolved.

Qatar will hold the Asian Champion League on December 19 in a "bubble" court in line with the pandemic protocol for indoor games.

The CAF Champions League ended last November 27 between two Egyptian teams.

Al-Ahly embarrassed fellow rival Zamalek after Mohammed Magdy propelled a game-winning goal in the 88th mark, 2-1. Eight-time champions Al-Ahly also crunched Moroccan team Wydad Athletic Club in the semifinals.

In women's under -17 and under-20 FIFA World Cups, two countries will be the host. India will look forward to organizing the under-17 tournament while Costa Rica will prepare for the hosting of women's under-20.

Previously, China was set to host the World Cup, but the coronavirus overturned their chance.

The restructured format will revolve around 24 teams, where eight teams will come from Europe and Asia.

Infantino reassured that the safety of the staff and players is their priority, but he said that the Chinese would surely have the chance to host not earlier than 2025.

In October, Infantino tested positive for COVID-19 after coming from a three-week visit in Qatar for FIFA 2022.
