After allegedly stabbing his two sisters, Irwin Rivera's family decided to place him at a mental health center. The Mexican mixed martial artist is said to be undergoing episodic attacks of mental illness.

On January 7, the UFC Fighter has been charged by the police with two counts of attempted murder. Previously, the charges were only two counts of first-degree premeditated murder.

The 31-year-old bantamweight brawler was immediately placed under the Boynton Beach Police Department's custody in Florida.

Family puts Rivera in a mental health facility

On Friday, Lezlye Rivera, the UFC Fighter's sister, described Irwin's behavior after the stabbing incident.

On her Facebook, Lezlye posted that she and her younger sister, Kelly Rivera, were "fine n well" after the incident. Moreover, Lezlye wanted to clear things up about the incident.

"We love our brother to the fullest and anyone that knows us n [sic] our family knows exactly how much we all LOVE and mean to each other and knows just [sic] how close we as a family are. All we wish is for him to get the professional mental help he so desperately needs," wrote Lezlye on Facebook.

Susano Campos, the Riveras' mother, confirmed the post to the MMA Fighting organization.

In a coverage made by E! Online, the Florida police incident report revealed that the two women, 22 and 33, had suffered multiple wounds.

Upon rescue, the women were immediately transferred to the Delray Beach Medical Center. The younger victim was 'covered' in blood, and she told the police that her brother, Irwin, stabbed her using two brass knuckles in both hands.

Irwin Rivera confessed to what he did to his sisters, just four hours after the stabbing scandal, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Department reported. "The Beast," said to the police that the intentional killing was ordered to him by a "higher power" through his "own" purpose.

According to The Guardian, the younger woman had two collapsed lungs while the older sister was stable.

The arrest report stated that the incident happened when the two siblings went to visit Irwin and spent the night. They woke up to Irwin, stabbing them with a knife.

On Friday, a no-contact order was issued by the Palm Beach County court to Irwin Rivera's family. With two charges of attempted murder, the court ruled out his case to be non-bailable.

But, given the Baker Act usage, an emergency address has been on effect for Rivera, who was believed to have had attacks of mental struggles. For 72 hours, he will be kept on watch in a mental health center for a proper treatment that the jail cannot give.

It will not mean that he will not be imprisoned, but instead, he will return to jail once the health center clears him. Rivera will be in court for the initial conference of his case on March 4 for the trial.

Lezlye Rivera said that Irwin's mental health was worsening. The UFC fighter was lost in transition, following a lack of interest in training and unstable sleeping patterns.

She asked for support for her brother, who was mentally-corrupted after being placed in the facility. Their mother, Campos, said that Irwin was not his usual after losing his memory a few days after the stabbing incident.

The UFC said that Dominance MMA, Rivera's marketing agency, informed them about Irwin's break for a while. The organization added to put the bantamweight on hold, as the investigation continues on Irwin's mental health issues, as per MMA Junkie.

"The Beast" last stepped in the octagon in October last year during the UFC Vegas 11. He bowed down to Andre Ewell via a split decision.
