Clippers' Kawhi Leonard Injury Status

Ahead of the Clippers-Suns Game 3 showdown on Thursday, Leonard was shockingly ruled out due to a knee injury.

Apparently, Leonard has been dealing with a right knee sprain since Game 1 when he tweaked and re-aggravated it, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. The Clippers star only played through it in Game 2, but clearly, it has bothered him to the point that he and the team couldn't risk it come Game 3.

Leonard is now considered day-to-day, with his status for Game 4 yet to be determined.

The good news for the Clippers is that Leonard's injury isn't related to the partial ACL tear he suffered in the same knee back in June 2021.

For Game 3, however, the rest of the Clippers will have to really step up in order to beat the Suns. The team is already without Paul George as he continues to recover from the knee sprain that has kept him out for the last nine games of the 2022-23 regular season and their first two meetings with Phoenix this playoffs.

Now that Kawhi is also sidelined, they will have to rely on Russell Westbrook and Terance Mann to lead the offense.

Leonard has been sensational for the Clippers in the postseason, dropping 38 points and coming up clutch in Game 1 as they took first blood. While they lost in Game 2, Kawhi still put up big numbers with 31 points.

It will definitely be hard to replace him, but Ty Lue and the Clippers have no other choice but to take on the challenge.
