NBA: Carmelo Anthony Speaks Out on Shocking Retirement Announcement

Ten-time NBA All-Star Carmelo Anthony announced across all social media platforms his retirement from basketball in a heartwarming video featuring clips of his playing days and his 16-year-old son Kiyan.

The 9th all-time leading scorer in league history reminisced about the days when he had nothing except a ball on the court and a dream of something more.

"Now the time has come for me to say goodbye to the court where I made my name, to the game that gave me purpose and pride," Anthony declared.

Carmelo Anthony Passes Down Legacy to Son Kiyan

Anthony stated that his biggest legacy is not his on-court feats but his son Kiyan. He said it was time for his son to carry the torch, urging him to chase his dreams and let nothing hold him back.

The 38-year-old told his son at the end of the video that his legacy, now and forever, lives on through his 16-year-old, and he will always be proud of all that Kiyan does.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver released a statement congratulating the six-time All-NBA team member on his successful career.

Anthony considered one of the greatest scorers ever, played for six teams. The dynamic bucket-getter is best known for his time with the Denver Nuggets and the New York Knicks.

Short stints with the Thunder, Rockets, Trail Blazers, and the Lakers followed.

He led the league in scoring during the 2012-13 NBA season, with an average of 28.7 points per game.
