After spending more than 12 years in the Golden State Warriors organization, president of basketball operations and general manager Bob Myers will be stepping down once his contract expires on June 30, according to ESPN.

He announced the decision in a press conference on Tuesday afternoon.

Warriors superstar Stephen Curry took to social media to express his gratitude for Myers, saying that they both changed each other's lives.

Myers also mentioned in his farewell press conference the importance of Curry's leadership during his tenure as GM.

The decorated executive insisted that money was not the reason for his departure. The Warriors offered him a contract that would have made him among the highest-paid front-office executives in the league, but Myers said that "it's just time."

The 48-year-old stated that the high-pressure job requires a lot of energy and attention.

"The bottom line is this job, the one I’m in, requires complete engagement one-thousand percent. And if you can’t do it you shouldn’t do it."

"The bottom line is this job, the one I'm in, requires complete engagement one-thousand percent. And if you can't do it you shouldn't do it," Myers said.

The builder of four NBA championship rosters is still determining his future professional career plans. It has been reported that Myers received offers with private equity funds and roles within other professional sports leagues.

Warriors majority owner Joe Lacob is not rushing to name Myers' successor, mentioning that the franchise will take its time and do the right process.

Assistant general manager and former Warriors player Mike Dunleavy Jr. and vice president of basketball operations Kirk Lacob are among the candidates for the top job.
