Ligue 1: Why Julian Nagelsmann Did Not Get the PSG Job?

Paris St. Germain's search for a new manager continues as talks with former Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann broke down.

Trusted football journalist Fabrizio Romano said a disagreement occurred between the two parties during negotiations and will no longer be pursued.

"Julian Nagelsmann won't become new Paris Saint-Germain head coach; negotiations are now OFF," he wrote on his Twitter account.

"Mutual decision made as Nagelsmann and PSG didn't agree on key details, L'Equipe first reported.

"PSG are already in direct contact with another coach."

Nagelsmann's time with Bayern abruptly ended in March this year despite him steering the club to a double last 2021-2022 season. It happened while Bayern was sitting second at the table behind Borussia Dortmund.

The club said it was because of Bavarians' average performance during the period, but the decision may have been affected by his alleged affair with a reporter from Bild, Germany's biggest newspaper.

PSG's Manager Search Continues

The French champion will continue its search for a helmsman, and the latest name attached for the job is Arsenal's overachieving coach last season, Mikel Arteta. However, the Gunners legend made a solid response and told PSG that he would not leave his club after signing an extension last year.

Former Spain coach Luis Enrique is another name that surfaced to become the next manager at Parc des Princes. PSG Community first floated the rumor.

Mundo Deportivo correspondent Dani Gil reported that Enrique's camp is not currently in talks with PSG but insisted that the Spanish manager returning to coaching is not to be ruled out.
