Aaron Rodgers showed he is fully committed to the New York Jets after signing a multiple-year deal on lesser pay.

The four-time NFL MVP accepted a two-year, $112.5 million deal that includes $75 million in fully guaranteed money for the next two seasons. This is a revision of the $110 million he was supposed to get for 2023 only.

Rodgers called this agreement a win-win-win deal for everybody - him, the team, and who is the third one?

He said the other guys who want to come to the Jets.

"Win for me, I get paid a ton of money. Win for the team, we get a low cap number and deferred some cash. Win for other guys that we can bring in and sign," he explained.

"And I have no complaints. I'm not missing it at all."

Retirement and leaving the Jets on a good note

Rodgers has pretty much accomplished everything he needs to win in the NFL, and at 39 years old, retirement talks are hard to shake off.

He revealed that the contract he accepted is his way of looking after his second team as a pro.

Once he hangs his boots and gloves, he hopes to leave the team with a more flexible salary cap.

"This is going to be a few years partnership," he told reporters on Tuesday.

"And after that, hopefully there's not a huge kind of cap issue. That's why we didn't need to backload it or put any special escalator, strange things in the contract to weigh down the organization after I'm done playing."
