Dennis Schroder is no stranger when it comes to speaking his mind. As most know, the 29-year-old had made controversial comments against the Los Angeles Lakers despite suiting up for the purple and gold twice in his NBA career.

Schroder, part of the German national team that recently booted the United States out of the FIBA World Cup 2023 final, relayed in the post-game press conference where his current team ranks among the squads he has played for.

"I think this is the best team I've ever played on, whether it's the NBA or national team," Schroder said in a report by BasketNews.

Understandably, Schroder is on a high, considering they brought down a giant favorite in the 2023 FIBA World Cup. With other NBA players such as Daniel Theiss, Mo Wagner, and Franz Wagner, it is hardly surprising that Schroder would claim that he currently has a good supporting cast.

But was it a jab at the Lakers? Only Schroder knows.

Reaves happy for Schroder

Regardless, at least one Los Angeles Lakers player is happy for Schroder - Austin Reaves.

Although Reaves could not hide his disappointment with the outcome between the USA and Germany, he shared how he was happy for his former teammate in the post-game interview after their 111-113 loss on Friday, September 8, NBA.com reported.

"Obviously super tough. We knew the task ahead and that was to win and we didn't do that so you tip your hat," Reaves said.

The United States will face Canada for the FIBA World Cup Bronze on Sunday, September 10, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines.
