The Golden State Warriors are set to meet with veteran NBA player Dwight Howard, a move that could make sense for the Dubs.

The center position is something that the Warriors have been trying to address in recent years. They have tried different names in the past.

So far, nothing is set in stone. Despite being 37 years old, there is no doubt that the 6-foot-11 center could defend big men at the post and control the boards as well.

Of the two, it appears defending will be the main intent behind the Warriors' interest in Howard. And former NBA player Eddie Johnson suggests that these talks have something to do with Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets.

"For one reason, nobody can deal with Jokic, but you can. You've proven that you can bother Jokic. And I said, 'For that reason, somebody's going to give you a chance,"' Johnson, the 1989 Sixth Man of the Year Award winner, said when he appeared on SiriusXM NBA Radio.

While that makes some sense, it may not be the primary reason the Warriors are interested in the eight-time All-Star, The Athletic reported. Howard is seen as an additional body and someone who can mentor young players on the squad, such as Kevon Looney.

Regardless, the top pick of the 2004 NBA Draft will still need to prove himself when he works out with the Golden State Warriors, USA Today reported.

Dwight Howard befuddled with Dubs' interest

Dwight Howard himself is dumbfounded at why the Warriors would take an interest in him. The one-time NBA champion gave his honest take when he appeared on the My Expert Opinion Show.

"They've got five championships, or four, or three, whatever it is. I'm just looking at both sides of it, I know who I am, I know my talent. From their business side of it, why would they do that on their end?" Howard stated.
