The New York Jets nearly pulled off one of the most improbable wins in franchise history against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, October 1, at MetLife Stadium.

Amid the immense pressure thrown upon him, Jets QB Zach Wilson was outplaying the best quarterback in the sport, Patrick Mahomes, at one point.

However, despite a strong performance for most of the night, the 24-year-old faced a crucial setback when he fumbled a shotgun snap with 7:24 remaining in the game, with the Jets trailing 23-20.

This turnover allowed the Chiefs to recover the ball and effectively run out the clock, aided by a significant run by Mahomes.

"It's on me. To be driving down there and to drop a snap, I can't do that. It can't happen," Wilson said after the game.

Jets came back from huge deficit

After the defending Super Bowl champions took a commanding 17-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, the Jets slowly clawed their way back in the Sunday Night Football showdown, tying the game at 20 apiece by the first drive of the second half.

Wilson's remarkable performance, completing 28 of 39 passes for 245 yards and two touchdowns, including a career-high 28 completions, could potentially be the turning point that salvages his NFL career.

The former BUY standout's recent struggles had jeopardized his career, but this standout performance may have provided the momentum needed for a resurgence.
