The Los Angeles Rams experienced a concerning moment during their 29-23 overtime victory last Sunday, October 1, after star quarterback Matthew Stafford went down in the third quarter and came up visibly limping for the rest of the game at the Lucas Oil Stadium.

Despite the setback, the 35-year-old finished the game, leading the Rams on a game-winning drive in overtime by connecting with wide receiver Puka Nacua for the decisive touchdown on the opening drive of the extra period.

The 2014 Pro Bowl selection said that he sustained the injury on the play just before throwing an interception in the second half while attempting to make a throw to wide receiver Tutu Atwell and getting hit by Colts defensive end Dayo Odeyingbo.

Nacua took responsibility for Stafford getting hit on the play, acknowledging his role as a blocker.

Los Angeles Rams' Matthew Stafford injury status

Rams head coach provided the latest update on Monday, October 2, regarding their team's starting quarterback and his status for their next game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, October 8, at home at the SoFi Stadium.

"Yeah, had a little hip contusion. We'll be smart with him, but it should be good to go. He is a stud and obviously, we saw him gut through that yesterday, but definitely took a good shot there. We feel like he should be good to go," the 37-year-old tactician said.
