The Colorado Buffaloes are preparing for Stanford Cardinal, and their defense could get a boost following reports that Travis Hunter may be back in harness, according to Buffs coach Deion Sanders.

The potential return of the two-way player is a welcome development for Coach Prime and company. However, Sanders adds that the return of the 20-year-old wide receiver to active duty depends on how well he plays in practice, USA Today reported.

"He has to be in shape. I don't want him to be a liability. I want him to always be a tremendous athlete," the 56-year-old coach stated.

Coach Prime wants to ensure that Hunter fully recovers from the hit he took from Henry Blackburn of Colorado State. He ended up with a lacerated liver and has been sidelined since. The Buffs have gone 1-2 without the two-way player.

Although Sanders would love to get him back, he wants to make sure that Hunter can help the team rather than be a liability, CBS Sports reported.

Travis Hunter is raring to charge again

However, the NFL great shared an interesting tidbit that should bolster the chances of seeing Hunter back against Cardinal.

"Travis, he came to me yesterday morning and he said, 'What more can I do to help us get to the point that we need to get to?' So I love the team aspect of Travis, 100%," Sanders added.

Hunter's possible return may further boost the odds of the Colorado Buffaloes, who are already favored to win over Stanford Cardinal per Oddssharks.
