Western Conference teams last season did not have an answer for Denver Nuggets and eventual Finals MVP Nikola Jokic.
Oklahoma City Thunder's 2022 second-overall draft pick Chet Holmgren learned the hard way after facing off and losing heavily against the Joker at home.
The Thunder just did not have an answer on Jokic, who controlled the game, posting his usual numbers 28-14-5.
Holmgren said they turned to films to prepare for Jokic, but still to no avail.
"We watched film and game planned and stuff," Holmgren said after the game.
"Obviously, a new experience. Never played against him in my life. Can't say I've played against anybody super similar to him in my life... There's definitely a lot of things that he does that is hard to replicate."

He also took it upon himself to get better at playing against arguably the best big man in the NBA.
Holmgren recorded 19 points in the game, along with four rebounds, but finished it -23 in plus/minus.

Holmgren's effort to stop Jokic did not go unnoticed by the Serbian star.
He believes the rookie has the wares to compete in the league, but he needs to accomplish one thing - to gain weight.
"He's a really talented guy, but this is his first year. He's still learning everything," per Jokic to Denver Post writer Bennett Durando.
"I think he needs to be a little bit fatter, to be honest. But yes, he has a talent that is unique."
