The New England Patriots future with Mac Jones does not appear promising despite most initially seeing the 25-year-old quarterback as the proper replacement to retired NFL player Tom Brady.

Although the former Alabama Crimson Tide showed much promise when he debuted in 2021, the Patriots have gone on a downward trajectory.

Despite the entry of a new coach, Matt Patricia, nothing has changed for the Patriots and Bill Belichick. So, is Mac Jones' Patriots run coming to an end?

It appears that all is now well from within the Patriots' camp.

According to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, Mac Jones has drawn the ire of several people expecting more out of the 15th overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft.

"One thing that's really infuriated people there - people in the building - is the decision-making," Breer said on Tuesday, November 7, when he spoke on NBC Sports' Boston Sports Tonight.

Breer also pointed out a disturbing part of Jones' game that has proven detrimental to the team.

"They'd been sold the smart, efficient, game-managing quarterback, and they're not getting it. The decision-making hasn't been good. They see him passing up open receivers. They see things, quite frankly, that you wouldn't see from a quarterback who has those sorts of qualities," Breer added.

This comes not long after it was revealed that Belichick had alienated Jones and that team owner Robert Kraft had to intervene, The Athletic reported.

Jones just part of the Patriots' problem

While those are glaring observations on Jones, the Patriots have faced offensive struggles. The receiving corps of the Pats leaves a lot to be desired.

This was noticeable in their loss to the Washington Commanders, 20-17, on November 5. Receivers were having difficulties getting open against man coverage, resulting in two costly drops, NESN reported.

At 2-7 this season, the Patriots are well on their way to another disappointing season. They will next face the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday in Frankfurt, Germany.

The New England Patriots are -1.5 spread underdogs against the Indianapolis Colts in this NFL Week 10 matchup per USA Today.
