The loss of Joe Burrow for the season makes matters worse for the Bengals. The 2021 NFL Comeback Player of the Year's season is over after suffering a torn ligament in his right wrist in the team's loss to the Baltimore Ravens last November 16, Fox Sports reported.

Burrow underwent wrist surgery on November 27 with expectations he would be ready for the 2024 season, NFL.com reported.

Jaguars vs. Bengals Week 13 Preview

With the Jaguars holding home-field advantage and facing a team reeling without their franchise quarterback, this Week 13 game appears to be in the bag for Jacksonville.

The team has not played Monday Night Football for a long while, so excitement is building from within the team. No less than Jags coach Doug Pederson knows that this is a special moment for the team and its fan base, the Associated Press reported.

"It's obviously exciting," Pederson said. "It's always an electric moment. We'll have conversations this week. It's really just approaching it the same, learning to control your emotions. I want the guys to feel relaxed, but at the same time, continue to have that edge that we've had the last couple of weeks.

Conversely, the Bengals are not moping after losing the Burrow for the season. The fact is that Cincinnati is just two games behind the Steelers and the Cleveland Browns in the AFC North and is still in the running in the conference playoff race, CBS Sports reported.

Bengals coach Zac Taylor knows they still have a chance, so seeing how he changes things up with Burrow out will be interesting.

"We're right where we need to be. We just have to play our best football. Plenty of opportunity in front of us with people we play against that are in similar positions, maybe slightly more favorable," Taylor said.

Jaguars vs. Bengals Week 13 Pick

There is no doubt that the Jaguars are heavy favorites to pull off a win. The game lost some luster with Burrow out, although that could pose a problem for Pederson.

That would depend on whether Jake Browning can rise to the occasion. His first performance as a starter was not that bad, although he needs to do better when it comes to pass protection. He was sacked four times, twice by T.J. Watt in the team's loss to the Steelers.
