Toronto Raptors wing RJ Barrett has been in outstanding form since his trade to the Canadian team in the middle of the 2023-24 NBA season, heading to his home country after more than four seasons with the New York Knicks.

The 23-year-old was selected by the Knicks with the third overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. Prior to this, he played a season with the star-studded Duke Blue Devils under head coach Mike Krzyzewski alongside top overall pick Zion Williamson and another lottery pick, Cam Reddish.

Before the end of the 2023 calendar year, the Knicks traded Barrett, along with Immanuel Quickley and a 2024 second-round draft pick, to the Toronto Raptors in exchange for O.G. Anunoby, Precious Achiuwa, and Malachi Flynn.

Let's take a look at the details of RJ Barrett's contract, career earnings and salary.

RJ Barrett's Contract: $107 million

In the summer of 2022, Barrett agreed on a four-year contract extension with the New York Knicks worth $107 million, set to run from the 2023-24 season up to the 2026-27 season.

The deal has the potential to reach up to $120 million when factoring in performance incentives within its duration.

The pact continued to be valid upon the Canadian's move to the Toronto Raptors during the middle of the 2023-24 season, which is the first year of this new pact.

Prior to his extention, Barrett was on a rookie scale entry level deal valued at $35.6 million, valid for the first four seasons of his career. The agreement was signed upon being drafted by the Knicks in 2019.

RJ Barrett's Career Earnings

By the conclusion of the 2023-24 NBA season, Barrett is anticipated to have accumulated $59.4 million from his NBA salary alone during his first five seasons in the association, according to Spotrac.

This figure doesn't include potential earnings from off-court ventures such as endorsements and partnerships. Additionally, the mentioned amount doesn't factor in deductions for taxes, agent fees, or other business related expenses.

Looking ahead to the conclusion of his existing contract after the 2026-27 NBA season, the former Duke standout is forecasted to have garnered career earnings surpassing $142.5 million by that time.

As Barrett approaches negotiations for his next contract, likely during the prime of his career at 26 or 27 years old, there's a chance he could command a higher sum if he continues to demonstrate his potential.

RJ Barrett Salary 2023-24

Barrett is set to earn $23,883,929 during the current 2023-24 NBA season, ranking as the third-highest paid player on the New York Knicks roster before his trade and the second-highest paid player on the team upon joining the Toronto Raptors, according to numbers from HoopsHype.

This marks a significant salary increase from the previous season, where he earned $10,900,634, essentially doubling his earnings for this campaign.

Looking ahead, Barrett's salary is expected to rise to $25,794,643 in the 2024-25 season. It will further increase to $27,705,357 for the 2025-26 season, before reaching its peak at $29,616,071 in the 2026-27 season, which marks the final year of his current contract.
