Winning one title in the NFL is hard. To be able to do it back-to-back is incredible. To win it three times straight will be historic.

The Kansas City Chiefs are going for three-peat in the 2024 season.

They won their two straight Super Bowl early this month after beating the San Francisco 49ers, 25-22.

No team has achieved a three-peat before, given how balanced the league is. Once teams reach the playoffs, it can be anybody's ball game on a good day.

Chiefs owner/CEO Clark Hunt wants coach Andy Reid to return for the next season amid rumors that the 65-year-old is already considering retiring after the 2023 season.

Team's superstar and Super Bowl 58 MVP Patrick Mahomes, who Hunt used to pitch an extension to Reid, wants his coach back, too, in their quest for a third straight.

"I don't think I'd be the quarterback that I am if I didn't have Coach Reid being my head coach, and other than that, he wants you to be the best person that you can be, and I think that's truly special," he said about Reid.

There is not much time to celebrate for Reid and the rest of the coaching staff. They now have to deal with the franchise tag period, the week-long scouting combine.

Another more important aspect of the offseason is the free agency.

Chiefs have to study free agency with utmost consideration of their salary cap to keep a formidable lineup in their back-to-back-to-back quest.

Who should they target?

These are the Top 3 free agents Chiefs should come after:

1. Tee Higgins

Wide receiver is the biggest hole in the Chiefs lineup right now.

Tee Higgins is the best available wide receiver in the market to date, and general manager Brett Veach needs a lot of work to do with their salary cap before they get a chance on the Cincinnati Bengals WR.

He is worth it, though. For 2023, he posted 42 receptions, 656 receiving yards, and 5 receiving touchdowns. He averaged 15.6 yards per reception.

2. Chris Jones

Chris Jones is testing the market this year after doing the same last year.

The defensive tackle was a crucial cog in the Chiefs' three titles, and to bring him back is only the right move.

The Chiefs should apply the franchise tag on the five-time Pro Bowler. He had a cap of $26.808 million for 2023, and if the franchise tag gets activated, the team will only spend $32.16 million to keep him for one more season.

The Chiefs will need their top defender for their title defense.

3. Gus Edwards

The Baltimore Ravens decided not to re-sign Gus Edwards, which means he will become a free agent soon.

The Chiefs should sweep in and express their interest in having the 28-year-old running back, as they will need one with Jerick McKinnon and Clyde Edwards-Helaire set to leave the team.

Isiah Pacheco has proven himself to be a reliable RB for a title-contending club, but he will need a reliever who is at the same level as him. That is Gus Edwards.

He played in 17 regular season games for the Ravens and started nine. He posted career-highs in carries (198), rushing yards (810), league's fifth-best rushing touchdowns (13), receptions (12), and receiving yards (180).
