Los Angeles Lakers point guard D'Angelo Russell's exceptional three-point shooting has been a significant aspect of his outstanding 2023-24 campaign.

The former Ohio State standout has been shooting 42.4 percent from deep this season, averaging 2.9 three-pointers on 6.8 attempts per contest.

Russell's catch-and-shoot threes have proven particularly effective as a weapon this season, and he provided insight into his improved game.

"Once I realized I'm not gonna get any better as an individual basketball player, I'm kinda just gonna be better at what I do. 8 to 10 years in the league, I've learned where my shots are gonna come," the 28-year-old said during team practice on Wednesday, March 21.

As the Lakers' starting point guard for most of the season, he has maintained averages of 18.1 points, 6.4 assists, and 3.0 rebounds in 64 games.

D'Angelo Russell is on the verge of setting new Lakers record

Russell made six three-pointers in the Lakers' recent game against the Atlanta Hawks on Monday, March 18.

His final triple of the night marked his 183rd of the 2023-24 season, tying the franchise record set by Nick Van Exel in 1994-95 for the Lakers' single-season record for most three-pointers.

With just 13 games remaining and only one three-pointer needed to claim the record outright, Russell is targeting to surpass it during the Lakers' upcoming home game against the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday, March 22.
