Denver Broncos found a new Wilson after getting a Wilson.

Coach Sean Payton has landed a new quarterback in Zach Wilson after trading for him with the New York Jets in exchange for a sixth-round draft pick.

The trade comes a month after the team officially parted ways with future Hall of Fame member Russell Wilson, who was the team's main quarterback for the last two seasons.

The Associated Press, citing an anonymous source since the deal is yet to be made official, said the Broncos and the Jets will both pay the $5 million salary Wilson is meant to receive this season.

Wilson came to the league in 2021 as the Jets' second overall draft pick from Brigham Young University.

His three years in New York have not been ideal. As a rookie starter, he went 3-10 and 5-4 in 2022.

He threw four touchdowns in his first six games and allowed nine interceptions.

At the start of the 2023 season, he was a full-time backup when Aaron Rodgers signed with the team.

The four-time MVP got injured in his first-ever game in Jets uniform, and Wilson had to fill in.

However, the young QB never found his groove. He went 4-7 as a starter for the franchise last year.

As for his move to the Broncos, many believe that getting a new scenery could revitalize his talent.

Is he going to be the main quarterback for the Broncos?

Wilson is likely to remain a backup in coach Sean Payton's system. If the worst happens, he will be traded away again.

Broncos will pay at least $2.5 million to have him. The Jets will spend at least $2.5 million to get rid of him.

For now, the surest scenario is he will continue to be a developmental player for the Broncos, which are after a QB in a quarterback-loaded 2024 NFL draft.

They will pick no. 12 and then pick seven times, including twice in under 100.

Wilson, who is just 24 years old, will still be a great backup if this plan falls through. He might also get signed long-term if he gets acclimated to Payton's system, which barely brought out the best in Russell Wilson.

This 2024 season could be Wilson's audition piece, earning him a little more trust from the coaches and scouts.

The Broncos are looking for a franchise guy who could bring them to greater heights right now.

They brought Russell Wilson for that, although it did not bear fruit.

The 2024 NFL draft, happening from April 25 to April 27, is filled with QBs who have the making of a future cornerstone of any team.

This year's crop is headed by Heisman Trophy nominees and winners, including USC Caleb Williams, who is expected to be picked No. 1 by the Chicago Bears.

Other excellent young QB Prospects are Drake May (North Carolina), Jayden Daniels (LSU), and JJ McCarthy (Michigan).
