The July 31 MLB trade deadline is coming soon, and time is ticking for the New York Yankees to prepare for a legitimate World Series push. With that being said, the Bronx Bombers are said to be looking for additional support, namely an aggressive-hitting third baseman. The name that continues to come up is Arizona Diamondbacks infielder Eugenio Suárez.

Even with already occupying the top spot in the American League East at 39-25, the Yankees are thought to be searching for a roster addition to enhance their playoff opportunities.

ESPN's Bradford Doolittle included Suárez as an ideal choice, stating, "They need more pitching for sure, though the Yankees have done a great job of piecing things together so far. A more impactful pickup might come from a power bat for third base, with Arizona's Eugenio Suarez leaping to mind as an ideal fit."

Though the Yankees' bullpen and rotation have managed, Suárez's power and experience might supply the offense they require at the hot corner.

At .228 currently, Suárez has put up 18 home runs and 48 RBIs this year. The struggling 32-34 Diamondbacks notwithstanding, Suárez remains a plus in their lineup. His bat is still potent, leading the team in RBIs and second in home runs this season.

Earlier this season, Suárez set the news wires abuzz with a four-home-run performance against the Atlanta Braves, a feat in the rarefied world of MLB done by only 18 men before him.

A Proven Veteran with Playoff Experience

Eugenio Suárez is no stranger to the grand stage. He was an All-Star with the Cincinnati Reds in 2018 and has also played for the Detroit Tigers and the Seattle Mariners. The previous year, he accumulated more than 100 RBIs and 149 hits—the highest totals in a season since 2019, showing his steady run production.

Now in his second year with the Diamondbacks, Suárez is still a steady presence in the lineup and a well-respected elder statesman in the clubhouse. His experience and versatility may make him a highly sought-after commodity for a Yankees team seeking October depth.

Will the Yankees Seize This Chance?

As the July 31 trade deadline approaches, the Yankees' front office must make a serious decision, ClutchPoints reports. Signing Suárez would bring in an established power hitter and a reliable glove at third base—two major pieces for a team trying to end a World Series championship drought that exceeds a decade.
