The Cleveland Browns headed into their offseason with a congested quarterback pool. They have two rookies onboard, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders, who are expected to make a difference aside from the veterans.

Sanders is expected to be a top 3 pick, but it appears that he is destined to climb from the bottom. A new rumor is that Gabriel might go to the Miami Dolphins so Sanders could get more playing time, so he could showcase his skills.

Rookies Impress Early in Browns Minicamp and OTAs

Both Sanders and Gabriel have made impressive early impressions in minicamp and team activities. Sanders, the son of NFL legend Deion Sanders and a former Colorado star, has shown the dynamic playmaking that set him apart as a collegiate sensation. Gabriel, who made a reputation for poise and precision, appears to be the same calm, steady leader who led Oregon to the College Football Playoff.

But with four quarterbacks listed on the roster and only so many snaps available, the Browns might have to make a tough choice before training camp opens.

Dillon Gabriel Trade Rumors

Former NFL quarterback and current analyst Kurt Benkert fanned the flames this week, speculating that Dillon Gabriel might be on the move, possibly to the Miami Dolphins.

The Dolphins were heavy on Gabriel throughout the draft process, Benkert reported and were set to take him before Cleveland made a quick grab just a couple of picks prior.

"They liked him a ton and saw him as an incredible scheme fit with athletic upside and were going to take him a few picks later, but then the Browns drafted him (per source)," Benkert posted on X.

Given Tua Tagovailoa's injury history and Quinn Ewers still finding his footing in Miami, the Dolphins may be seeking another strong option to bolster their quarterback depth. Gabriel, who passed for 3,857 yards and 30 touchdowns last season at Oregon, could be an ideal fit.

Shedeur Sanders Could Benefit from a Gabriel Trade

If the Browns release Gabriel, that would make the way more evident for Shedeur Sanders and perhaps be an indication of Cleveland's long-term commitment to the rookie.

Even though the Browns took Sanders down to the fifth round, he came into the league with high hopes and even greater attention given to him. A trade would bless his growth behind the scenes and make him the Browns' quarterback of the future.

What's really interesting is the amount of faith the Browns seem to be putting in Sanders' upside. He might not have Gabriel's draft background, but if Cleveland decides to hold onto him and trade Gabriel, it means he must be impressing in closed practices and internal testing.

The NFL is one of the opportunity leagues, and shedding the depth chart might be the golden opportunity Shedeur Sanders needs to establish that he does belong, Marca reports. As a backup this year or a possible starter in the immediate future, everyone's attention is now focused on what the Browns will do next.
