CM Punk is already peering into the future, not only of the company, but of his own in-ring future. The 46-year-old legend spoke of the limited time he has remaining in WWE and the future stars he wishes to share it with before hanging up his boots.
Punk recognized that WWE is full of great talents, but he doesn't have time to work with all of them. Although this suggests that he won't hurry to fight them, he praised some names that pop out.
Gunther Tops Punk's List of Must-Face Superstars
Speaking with ComicBook Nation, CM Punk said that Gunther is at the top of his wish list. He added that the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion is the future of the business.
Though fans have speculated about a potential matchup between the two for over a year, it's finally becoming a reality. Punk and Gunther are officially scheduled to clash at the upcoming SummerSlam Premium Live Event, setting the stage for what could be one of the year's most electric showdowns.
Punk's Picks 3 More Future WWE Superstars
Along with Gunther, CM Punk specifically named Bron Breakker, Chad Gable, and Damian Priest as the wrestlers he feels are set to lead WWE into a new age.
"There's all these guys that I look at and go, 'Oh man, I want to get in there with them!' and I immediately start cooking up ideas."
He's already ticked one name off that list, Bron Breakker—having crossed swords with him in a gauntlet match on Monday Night Raw. Breakker tested his limits by dispatching top-flight talents like LA Knight and Jey Uso before succumbing to Punk's trademark GTS finisher, GiveMeSport reported.
CM Punk's Wrestling Career
Since making his debut as part of the WWE stable in 2006 through the ECW brand, CM Punk has emerged as one of the most iconic names in contemporary wrestling.
Starting from his 'Pipe Bomb' promo of 2011 to a historic title record featuring the World Heavyweight Championship and Intercontinental Championship, Punk has established a legacy based on rebellion and greatness.
