Stephen Curry is often a subject of NBA trade rumors. Sources have paired him with LeBron James, but projections suggested otherwise, indicating they wouldn't work together. A recent rumor claims that a backcourt guard could be a better partner for the Chef.

Derrick White has become a sparkplug for the Boston Celtics' offense. He made a decent contribution last season. With Jayson Tatum out for the rest of the season, he's one of the players expected to step up in the lineup.

Derrick White Trade Rumors Spark Interest

During the Warriors' torrid beginning, Bleacher Report's Greg Swartz suggested a trade that could put Golden State on the cusp of championship contention: acquiring Derrick White from the Boston Celtics.

According to the analyst, Curry could see White as an ideal backcourt partner since he is "one of the best multi-positional defenders and arguably the best shot-blocking guard since Dwyane Wade."

White's defensive ability, ball-handling skills, and championship pedigree make him a natural for Golden State's motion offense. His addition would enable Curry to concentrate more on offense and provide a badly needed defensive anchor to the backcourt.

What Would Warriors and Celtics Give Up to Make This Happen?

According to Fadeaway World, here's what the proposed deal will look like.

  • Warriors get: Derrick White
  • Celtics get: Jonathan Kuminga, Brandin Podziemski, 2032 first-round pick

For the Celtics, the deal provides an opportunity to upgrade their roster with two quality young guards and a future draft pick. Both Kuminga and Podziemski have played well early in the season, demonstrating they're ready for greater responsibilities.

Kuminga is playing 16.2 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 3.4 assists, displaying increased efficiency and leadership. And Podziemski is playing 12.2 points and shooting more than 42% from three, setting himself up as Curry's possible heir.

This deal could help Boston rebuild around Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown while maintaining long-term competitiveness.

How Derrick White Could Improve Golden State

Adding White would instantly strengthen the Warriors' rotation. His defensive versatility, playmaking skills, and high basketball IQ perfectly complement Golden State's system.

Whereas the 31-year-old guard's offense has come slower to the party this season, a mere 16.5 points on 32.9% shooting, his defense is still elite, with 1.5 steals and 1.3 blocks per contest. With a Warriors offense that thrives on intelligent ball movement and corner three-point defense, White might be the key to producing one final title run around Curry.

Will Boston Release Derrick White?

Though enticing as a trade, Boston might be reluctant to let go of White. Celtics still see White as one of the most important pieces that go well with Jaylen Brown and Tatum. Trading him will require the Warriors to give up one of the players from the starting five.

Curry was also previously paired with Giannis Antetokounmpo in a SWN report earlier this month.
