The Ja Morant drama became more intense when trade rumors surrounding him popped out during the start of the new NBA season. However, this is not the first time that he expressed unhappiness with the Memphis Grizzlies' front office.

With the rising tension between the 26-year-old guard and the organization, trade speculation suggests that his time in Memphis might be over. However, a recent report says that NBA executives are not really interested in getting him, in case he becomes available.

NBA Execs Reportedly Have 'No Interest' in Ja Morant Trade

As mentioned by NBA insider Marc Spears, there is reluctance across the league to add Ja Morant to their roster. He appeared on NBA Today and mentioned several team executives made it clear they had zero interest in trading for the South Carolina player.

"Four of the execs I talked to today say they really have no interest in trading for him. One said it was because it's a combo of contract and off the court issues. Another suggested that if Ja is traded it'll probably be a problem star for a problem star. I asked one current NBA coach if he would like to coach Ja Morant and he said I'm not sure I'd want to"

A current NBA head coach reportedly said he wasn't sure he would get Ja when asked about the prospect of coaching Morant.

Talented Superstar Overshadowed by Controversy

At his best, Ja Morant is a flashy, All-NBA caliber point guard who can take any franchise into a playoff contender. His athleticism, highlight dunks, and leadership once made him the face of Memphis basketball.

But over the last few seasons, his off-court problems overshadowed his brilliance on the court. Multiple suspensions for conduct violations and concerning behavior hurt his image and disrupted his rhythm. The most famous one is his bizarre finger gun gesture that he fired at the Golden State Warriors' bench in April.

Various injuries also haven't helped him get consistent availability with the Grizzlies.

Rising Friction Within the Grizzlies Organization

Recent reports note that Morant's relationship with Memphis's coaching staff has grown strained. Over the weekend, the team suspended him for one game due to conduct detrimental to the team after he made some controversial comments following a loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, per Bleacher Report.

On Monday, Morant spoke on his struggles, stating that he does not feel any joy at the moment. He added that he's still unsure what it will take him to get back on track.

At this very moment, Morant has not asked for a trade. That does not eliminate the possibility that the Grizzlies can repair their relationship with him. If it happens, though, the market for Morant may not be as deep as expected.

Given his massive deal, recent suspensions, and off-court distractions, potential suitors seem hesitant. If he becomes a free agent, he won't be a "hot commodity" for NBA execs.
