The Dallas Mavericks experienced a huge adjustment when Luka Doncic departed. While Kyrie Irving is still a top-caliber point guard, his season-ending injury forced other members to step up. In this case, Anthony Davis became the new leader while Cooper Flagg is figuring out the team's chemistry.

Having said that, there are trade rumors that Davis could go elsewhere. One of the potential teams where he could test his talent is the New York Knicks.

Davis is a two-way superstar who can play power forward and center with elite scoring, rebounding, and defensive versatility. In five games this season, he is averaging 20.8 points, 10.2 rebounds, 1.6 steals, and 1.2 blocks per game while shooting 52% from the floor. Pairing Davis with Karl-Anthony Towns and Mitchell Robinson could give the league one of its most dominant frontcourts, while also improving the depth in the team's bench.

How Davis Could Help Knicks

Adding Davis would completely flip the Knicks' offense and defense, FadeAway World noted. His rim protection, defensive switchability, and scoring power make any rotation better. With Mikal Bridges alongside Davis and Towns as a core frontcourt, New York can compete for supremacy in the East.

While Robinson would likely see his role decrease a bit, the Knicks would gain some roster depth; that's where championship teams tend to thrive in rotation, so this could be a chance to enhance both the starting and bench lineups.

Mavericks Add Flexibility with Anunoby, Hart, and a First-round Pick.

For the Dallas side, moving Anthony Davis provides the flexibility to retool around Cooper Flagg and Kyrie Irving. Adding OG Anunoby and Josh Hart to the roster fortifies it with two-way versatility.

Through 56 games this season, Anunoby has been averaging 18.1 points, 6 rebounds, and 2.4 steals per game, providing perimeter shooting and defensive acumen. Hart, on his part, contributes with 7.9 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 3.6 assists to add rebounding and hustle, boosting further depth to the Mavs.

Adding in a 2026 first-round pick, top-8 protected, gives Dallas an asset to help them rebuild sustainably into the future. This trade would allow the Mavericks to fix some shooting and defensive gaps, building around Flagg and Irving as the core of their roster.

Mavericks Reluctant to Move Davis

Dallas may still be resistant to dealing with Davis, however, given his elite talent and the fact that there's a huge selection of big men in their rotation. The 32-year-old remains among the league's most impactful players when healthy, which Kyrie Irving will be again soon, likely wanting to see how Davis, Flagg, and Irving work together on the hardwood.

However, as much as teams want Davis, his injury appears to be their concern. The former Los Angeles Lakers forward missed the last three games due to a calf injury.
