Italy's captain, Vinnie Pasquantino, produced a historic performance by hitting three home runs, marking the first three-homer game in World Baseball Classic history.

The 28-year-old's offensive explosion, combined with five dominant innings from ace Aaron Nola, powered Italy to the convincing victory that ultimately allowed the United States to move on to the knockout stage.

After the game, Pasquantino jokingly acknowledged the Americans during an on-field interview, saying the Italian team had them in mind and was "glad you could join the party."
