Sherrone Moore, once a rising figure in college football, has been sentenced to 18 months of probation and fined over $1,000 following a domestic-related incident involving a staff member.
The sentencing took place in Washtenaw County Court after Moore pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor charges.
Moore's Charges and Other Details

Moore faced charges including trespassing and malicious use of a telecommunications device. These charges stemmed from an incident at the apartment of a staff member with whom he had an inappropriate relationship.
More serious charges, including a felony, were dropped as part of a plea agreement.
According to ESPN, presiding Judge Cedric Simpson ruled that incarceration was not appropriate given the full context of the case, but warned Moore that any violation of probation could result in jail time. The court said that Moore's actions caused fear and emotional distress to the victim.
Victim Statement and Court Restrictions
The staff member, Paige Shiver, stated that the sentence did not reflect the severity of the incident. She described a frightening encounter, claiming Moore entered her apartment in distress and acted aggressively.
As part of the ruling, the 40-year-old coach must avoid all contact with Shiver, abstain from drugs and alcohol, and is prohibited from possessing firearms. He must also continue attending counseling sessions.
How Did This Case Affect Moore's Career?
The incident led to Moore's dismissal from the Michigan Wolverines football program in December after the university confirmed a violation of his contract. Once earning over $5 million annually, Moore's fall from prominence has been swift and significant.
Despite the controversy, Moore's legal team emphasized his efforts toward rehabilitation, noting his commitment to therapy and rebuilding his personal life.
During the hearing, Moore expressed gratitude to his family, particularly his wife, for their continued support.
The decision drew flak from the college football community. Some Redditors have different comments about Moore's probation:
"This dude went insane."
"1.5 years. If he apologies and finds god, he will be back as a HC within 5 years, probably at Liberty lmao."
"You mean the next head coach of the Cleveland Browns Sherrone Moore?"
"While I'm making no excuses for his behavior which was clearly criminal, it sounds like that might have been a little over-exaggerated in the moment. I think all of the charges around the non-breaking and entering elements got walked back."
"He'll be back in coaching after this coming season if he wants too. Probably as an analyst first then someone will take him as an OL coach."
"So he crashed out and ruined his chances at future coaching opportunities over nothing."
"This dude was committing felonies before he became a head coach and this idiotic fanbase continues to defend him."
"No surprise, the rich and famous rarely serve time in this country. Mbn."
"Amazing how money allows people to escape the justice system."
"Average Joe is getting jail time. Nice to be privileged."
"How many years of prison would any of us get if we broke into someone's house and started making life threats."
"i'm relieved but also tired of hearing excuses, anyone else?"
