Myles Garrett is getting a major financial boost after his move to the Los Angeles Rams, with a reworked contract that significantly increases his earnings for the 2026 season while locking him into one of the richest deals in the league.

After being traded from the Cleveland Browns, Garrett agreed to an updated contract structure that raises his total 2026 compensation to at least $37 million, according to reports. His previous deal had been valued at about $31.5 million for that season, meaning the adjustment gives him a sizable pay increase right away.

The contract also includes per-game roster bonuses and other performance-related incentives tied to his availability.

Even with the higher short-term payout, reports indicate that the overall contract value has not changed from the original agreement signed with the Cleveland Browns. That earlier extension was worth $160 million, but the Rams reworked parts of the structure after acquiring him in a blockbuster trade, ESPN reported.

The move to Los Angeles came at a high cost for the team. The Rams sent edge rusher Jared Verse, along with future draft picks in 2027, 2028, and 2029, in exchange for Garrett.

One of those picks could rise in value depending on future conditions, showing just how much the franchise values the defensive star. Garrett also retained a no-trade clause in his contract, giving him continued control over his future even after the deal.

The restructured agreement reportedly stretches through 2030 and includes a $37.5 million signing bonus, along with a guaranteed base salary and additional option bonuses. Some years in the deal are fully guaranteed, especially early on, while later seasons carry more flexible terms that could be adjusted in future negotiations.

In 2027, Garrett is set to receive a $30 million option bonus, and similar guaranteed structures appear in the following season.

According to DoseCA, by 2029 and 2030, the contract will reach nearly $40 million per year in potential earnings if all options are exercised.

On the field, the Rams are banking on Garrett to transform their defense. Known for his speed, strength, and ability to disrupt quarterbacks, he is widely considered one of the most dominant defensive players in the NFL today.

Team leadership, including coach Sean McVay, has made it clear that Garrett is expected to be a cornerstone of their long-term defensive plan.

For Garrett, the financial upgrade is only part of the story. He has also spoken about his desire to win a championship after limited playoff success in previous seasons.
