The Canadiens are shuffling their defensive pairings tonight and tinkered them at practice after a 5-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday.

"We're trying to find solutions because we're all aware we need to be better defensively," coach Michel Therrien said via NHL.com. "We worked on it again this morning, especially on our transition game heading back into our own end. It's our job to work on things that aren't going well."

Defenseman P.K. Subban has led the team in scoring with 35 points off of eight goals and 27 assists while Max Pacioretty has nine points in January and 21 tallies this season with nine helpers for 30 points and Tomas Plekanec has found the twine 16 times and adding 14 assists for 30 points.

The Red Wings will have Daniel Alfredsson back in the lineup after he missed the past six games due to back spasms.

"It's been really good three days of skating and no issues so I'm ready to go," Alfredsson told MLive.com. "It's always frustrating to be out and now be able to skate like I have and have no issues, it feels great actually."

Alfredsson is third on the team with 30 points off of 11 goals and 19 assists while Pavel Datsyuk is second with 32 points off of 15 markers and 17 helpers and Henrik Zetterberg leads the team with 42 points by finding the back of the net 15 times and adding 27 assists. Datsyuk is sidelined with a lower-body injury.

In net, Detroit is likely to go with Jonas Gustavsson, who has won four in a row and is 12-3-2 with a 2.47 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage while Montreal will turn to Carey Price, who is 22-14-4 with a 2.40 GAA and a .921 save percentage.

The Canadiens and Red Wings faceoff when they hit the ice tonight at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit.
