Tonight at 7:00 p.m. ET, the Florida Panthers (21-25-7, 49 points) and Toronto Maple Leafs (28-21-6, 62 points) hit the ice at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto for the second of four meetings against each other this season. The game can be live streamed here. Florida fans can hear all of the action on WQAM 560 while Toronto fans can do the same on TSN 1050.
Florida has won two of their last three and three out of five overall while Toronto has notched victories in seven of their last 10 entering tonight. The first time these two teams played, the Panthers defeated the Maple Leafs 3-1 on Dec. 17 in Toronto.
The Maple Leafs are coming off of a 3-2 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday that saw Jonathan Bernier notch 40 saves in the win.
"This is probably the first time [Bernier's] had to play the number of games he's played in his career," coach Randy Carlyle said per NHL.com. "He's enjoying a strong season and it's a tribute to him. As we've stated before, our goaltenders have provided us with A-level goaltending all year."
Bernier is 18-15-5 with a 2.60 goals-against average and a .926 save percentage this year for the Leafs. If he plays, he'll likely be opposed by Tim Thomas, who is 14-15-3 with a 2.75 GAA and a .912 save percentage.
The Panthers are coming off of a 6-2 loss on Tuesday that saw Thomas lose to his former team the Boston Bruins.
"For a guy like [Thomas], who has done so much for us, we have to play better in front of him," forward Brad Boyes, who has goals in consecutive games, told the Miami Herald.
Boyes leads Florida with 14 goals and has also added 10 assists to rank in a three-way tie with Aleksander Barkov (eight goals, 16 assists) and Tom Gilbert (two tallies, 22 helpers) for the team lead with 24 points.
Phil Kessel paces Toronto with 27 goals and 28 assists for 55 points while James van Riemsdyk has 21 markers and 20 helpers for 41 points and Nazem Kadri is 3-6-9 in his last seven games for a total of 35 points by finding the back of the net 14 times and adding 21 assists. Kessel has seven goals and 10 assists for 17 points in his last 10 games.
The Panthers look to bounce back from a loss while the Maple Leafs try to link back-to-back wins together with a victory tonight when the lights come up at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.
