NHL Trade Rumors [VIDEO]: Matt Moulson Drawing interest From 12 Teams, Will Sabres Deal Him?

The Buffalo Sabres traded Thomas Vanek to the New York Islanders earlier this season in exchange for Matt Moulson, but with interest in the free agent-to-be reportedly very high, the Sabres could be looking to now deal Moulson for more assets ahead of either Friday's Olympic break roster freeze or the March 5 deadline.

According to CBS Sports, there are 12 or more teams interested in Moulson and the rebuilding last place Sabres may pull the trigger on a deal to bring in some more talent.

Moulson--who may just be a rental player for a team that picks him up for a playoff push since his contract expires at the end of this season--brings on just a $3.13 million cap hit and could be a valuable asset for a team trying to make a run in the Stanley Cup playoffs. Moulson has dealt with a lower-body injury, but expects to be back in full force following the Olympic break.

The Sabres (15-33-8, 38 points) are 30th in the NHL and have reportedly been looking to deal some of their veterans to get some younger talent, including goaltender Ryan Miller, whose name has popped up in trade speculation recently.

Moulson, an Ontario native, was originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the ninth round (263rd overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft but never played for them. He spent time with the Los Angeles Kings and Islanders before being shipped off to Buffalo earlier this season.

Moulson leads the Sabres with 33 points off of 15 goals and 18 assists this season, though he's 9-15-24 overall with the team and was 6-3-9 with the Islanders before being dealt.

In 373 career games, Moulson has 133 goals, 124 assists and 257 points.
