Russell Wilson, Joseph Fauria Feud: Notable Athlete Fighting Over Women [VIDEO]

It is unclear what Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson’s relationship is with Erika Ann Hammond, a self-described model, host, fitness guru and athlete, but Detroit Lions tight end Joseph Fauria is sorry for tweeting about it.

An angry Fauria blasted Hammond, his apparently ex-girlfriend, for engaging in some kind of relationship with Wilson.

Now, Fauria is backtracking from his harsh statements, claiming he may have been misinformed.

Then, he attempted to turn the attention to his big game on Sunday vs. the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in which he got to dance in the end zone following a touchdown.

Fauria and Wilson's beef is just the latest athlete feud over women. Here are some other notable feuds between athletes sparked by the fairer sex.

DeMarco Murray vs. Brennan Clay

In terms of notoriety this battle is no contest. Murray is the NFL's leading rusher while Clay has done zippo in the world's biggest football league.

Clay likely has public opinion on his side though. Clay accused his ex-teammate at Oklahoma of sleeping with his wife, and then backed up his claims with some damning evidence that he called "the tip of the iceberg."

That's a tough one Mr. Murray.

Matt Hardy vs. Edge

Not everything in wrestling is scripted. Matt Hardy had been in a relationship with one of WWE's hottest Divas, Lita, in the mid-2000s when he discovered that she had been carrying on a relationship with fellow Superstar Edge. An enraged Hardy was legitimately troubled by this, and fired for a time from WWE for airing out the dirty laundry online.

Things got weirder when he was brought back to WWE, with the real-life feud with Edge becoming storyline fodder. The two engaged in multiple high-profile matches, most of which were won by Edge, with Lita often interfering on Edge's behalf.

Lita and Edge also once engaged in a "Live Sex Show" on RAW in which Lita's nipple was briefly exposed on cable television.

That's a pretty tough L for Matt Hardy to swallow.

Jason Kidd vs. Jimmy Jackson

Jason Kidd was a highly-touted rookie who went on to have a Hall of Fame Career for the Dallas Mavericks, Phoenix Suns, New Jersey Nets and New York Knicks. Drafted by the Mavs in 1994, Kidd only lasted three years, largely because of his attitude and fighting with fellow guard Jimmy Jackson.

Their rift was rumored to be over singer Toni Braxton, whom the legend goes arrived at the team hotel to meet with Kidd but left with Jackson. An irate Kidd is said to have demanded either he or Jackson be traded-he was dealt to the Suns and Jackson eventually left shortly afterward.

The rift broke up a promising core that also included All-Star forward Jamal Mashburn. Both Kidd and Jackson have denied Braxton creating their issues.

Adrien Broner vs. Paulie Malignaggi

Adrien "The Problem" Broner is a young, accomplished boxer more notorious for his brashness than his skills. Aside from being an aspiring rapper/party improver, Broner's antics before and after fights are part of his appeal.

Before fighting Paulie Malignaggi, a Showtime Boxing announcer as well as active fighter, Broner took his trolling game to another level. He spoke candidly about his sexual relationship with an ex-girlfriend of Malignaggi's and spilled some intimate details he reportedly learned from this woman, referred to as "Jessica."

Malignaggi responded crudely, calling Jessica a "side piece" and deriding Broner for "not getting p***y." When the two finally fought, Malignaggi lost his welterweight title to Broner via a controversial split decision.

In Broner's post-fight interview he mocked Malignaggi one more time, stating he "took his belt, and his girl."

Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. C.J. Watson

These two didn't ever face off-likely a win in itself for Watson-but Watson's involvement with Mayweather's ex-girlfriend wound up landing Floyd in jail.

Mayweather has a history of domestic violence, but this particular incident, in which Mayweather's own child called police to report he was hitting the child's mother, Josie Harris, was sparked when he discovered texts between her and Watson.

"All I heard is, 'Who is C.J. Watson, C.J. Watson the basketball player?' Harris said in the police report. "From there it was just ... bad. I was powerless. He was holding me down. I couldn't fight back. The kids were screaming and crying, 'You're hurting my Mom,'" Harris said in the police report.

She said Mayweather threatened both her life and Watson's as well. "I'm going to kill you and the man you are messing around with. I'm going to have you both disappear."

Watson is alive and well though, averaging 9.3 points and four assists for the Indiana Pacers.
