He already clinched the NBA title, but Kyrie Irving is still in a defensive position.
The Cavaliers star has come under a lot of fire recently and once again cleared the air over his perceived racism -- against his own race.
Social media doesn't always breed positivity. After a video surfaced online of Irving celebrating the Cavaliers' NBA title on a yacht, he became a villain among many users on Twitter.
All of the girls seen dancing on the boat during the party were white, leading to people claiming Irving threw a "no black girls allowed" party.
The point guard posted an Instagram photo subtly addressing the issue by captioning it, "all different shades," but that wasn't enough to fend off his detractors. Irving once again recently addressed the "controversy."
"I'd never think I would have to address something as ridiculous as a yacht party, but I wasn't raised to discriminate against any race let alone any race of women, especially my own," Irving said via TMZ Sports. "I was raised by the black women in my family and for me to be connected to some nonsense like a 'No black girls allowed' party is embarrassing and an inaccurate portrayal of who and what I represent as man."
Irving apologized to those who were offended, but made it clear they didn't know any of the facts.
"That story has no truth to it and I wanted to clear the air on all of this B.S.," he said. "But now, I would like to continue celebrating this championship. Thank you."
The NBA star has an interesting history with women, which includes his daughter's mother -- Andrea Wilson -- with whom he was recently rumored to get back together with.
He also has a sordid past with singer Kehlani, who recently reportedly attempted suicide over backlash from people on social media who believed under false pretenses that she cheated on him with her ex-boyfriend, PartyNextDoor.
On the court, Irving, 24, notched 25.2 points, 4.7 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game during the Cavaliers' run to the NBA championship. After being a part of the first team to ever overcome a 3-1 series deficit in the NBA Finals, Irving just wants to party sans controversy.
