Barcelona Thrashed By 4-0 Against PSG In The First Leg Of Champions League Last 16

Luis Enrique, Barcelona's coach has admitted that their hopes for Champions League are over after their defeat by 4-0 by a brilliant Paris Saint-German in their last 16 first leg on Tuesday. There are questions being raised that is this the team losing a match or has Barcelona lost its way.

This was Barcelona's on of the most chastening defeats of the modern era. "PSG did what we expected them to do and produced their best version, while we were at our poorest," said the Barcelona manager Luis Enrique during his postmatch news conference and added "They were superior to us from the start, overcame us in terms of applying pressure and creating danger. [It was] a night on which we were clearly inferior" as reported by ESPN.

PSG has been a dominating team in French football and they have not lost a single title since the year 2013. However, they are not able to continue the same in Europe as they have never gone ahead of quarter-finals but dominant wins against Chelsea at home and away both at this stage have made them strong contenders.

Angel Di Maria who was celebrating his 29th birthday scored twice for the French champions team. Lionel Messi, Neymar, Suarez were having a tough time while Draxler, Di Maria, Adrien Rabiot and Thomas Meunier were all doing superbly on the day. The final results get PSG  a place in quarter-finals for the fifth consecutive season while Barcelona is witnessing an early exit losing to Liverpool in the last 16 in 2007 as reported by Oneindia.

"It's extremely difficult for us now but we go back to our stadium and really we need a heroic performance but why not dream? said Barcelona coach "These players have shown down the years that they can get great results. Our chances are slim but there is a chance all the same."

Barcelona has very slim chances to get through while PSG who have been eliminated twice by Barca in the four seasons prior to this and their 3-1 defeat to the Catalans in 2015 was their only loss in last 42 European outings.
