The Ecuadorian Football Federation announced on Friday that Emelec striker Marcos Caicedo has officially agreed to a deal with the current two-time Liga MX champion, Leon. The 22-year-old made his professional debut in 2007, just four months before his 16th birthday. Per Soccerway, Caicedo scored 21 goals in 115 appearances in Ecuador's first division.

The rich just keep getting richer.

For Caicedo, Friday's news is a dream come true (h/t to EcuaFutbol). "I've waited for this opportunity for a long time. Emelec has given me everything. Going to a club like Leon is important and I want to thank God," he said.

"They have a lot of faith in me in Leon. I want to show them what I can do. I have to accept that I wasn't motivated much when I trained hard and didn't play with Emelec," he added.

"[Again], Emelec gave me everything. I worked for these colors because I love this club and I'm a fan of this team. I leave with sadness, but I'm not an enemy of [manager] Gustavo Quinteros. I respect him and he respects me. I abided by his orders."

"I leave in peace. I hold no hard feelings toward Quinteros, though it wasn't easy not being a starter."

When asked about the details of his agreement, he had this to offer: "I don't have the details of the contract [with Leon].I just heard the news from [Jose] Chamorro, [my agent]."

Caicedo will look to duplicate the same success had by his former teammate and compatriot, Enner Valencia. In 22 starts with Pachuca, Valencia finished with 18 goals and carried the club to Liga MX Clausura final, where they would ultimately fall to Leon in extra time.
