Colorado Rockies To Relocate? Owner Threatens To Move Over Negative Fan Comments [VIDEO]

Donald Sterling proved long before his racist rant that fans support for their professional teams transcends meddling owners. But Colorado Rockies owner Dick Monfort seems to be testing that theory.

CBSSports.com is reporting that Monfort has made a pair of outlandish statements in email exchanges with Rockies fans. Unless it's Monfort's way of opening up the possibility of relocating the Rockies franchise.

According to CBSSports.com, CBS Denver affiliate reporter Brian Maass obtained a series of emails from July 5-7 between Monfort and a fan who wished to remain anonymous.

The fan originally sent a general comment to the team, expressing his displeasure:

Clayton Kershaw no-hits the Rockies

"The Monforts have no business owning a baseball team and their missteps in hiring 'the good old boys' for front office and management positions is solid evidence of their ineptitude. They have ruined pro baseball in this region while generating millions of dollars in profit."

For some reason, the email was sent up the Rockies front-office ladder to Monfort, which is puzzling enough. But then the owner chose to respond.

And respond in bizarre fashion:

"By the way you talk maybe Denver doesn't deserve a franchise, maybe time for it to find a new home. Thanks."

The owner actually confirmed sending the email to Maass, saying "I sort of remember. " do remember that. I was rapid firing it. "I don't even have an idea what I meant to say."

That email came on the heels of another unbelievable email response to a disgruntled fan, Michael Ferguson, who filled out a feedback form at a Rockies game and left it in a comments drop-box earlier in the week.

"I pretty much just filled out the survey and kinda wrote a little bit about how it's frustrating to spend the money and go see [Rockies] teams that are constantly struggling all the time," Ferguson said to CBSSports.com.

Ferguson said he received a reply in his inbox simply stating, "If product and experience that bad don't come!"... signed owner, chairman, and CEO of the Colorado Rockies Dick Monfort.

It's a good thing for Monfort that the Sterling incident happened, to prevent him from being the most hated owner in sports.
