Bill Belichick Talks Tim Tebow, Won't Committ To Him As Quarterback

With the Patriots finally addressing the Aaron Hernandez questions, Bill Belichick is now being forced to weigh in on the one issue expected to torture the New England Patriots throughout this preseason.

The issue of Tim Tebow came up early and often on Friday, namely the question of how Belichick and the Patriots plan on using their versatile but limited new addition.

"I think we'll use Tim wherever we feel like is best for the team," Belichick told reporters when directly asked if Tebow, providing he makes the team, will only play quarterback. "I know that's what he's committed to doing as well, whatever that is."

That would be a switch from Tebow’s New York state of mind. While with the Jets, the former Florida star made it clear he still sees himself as an NFL quarterback, one capable of leading an offense the way he previously did in Denver.

When the Jets benched starter Mark Sanchez last season and tabbed third-stringer Greg McElroy to take place, Tebow became visibly shaken. While he agreed to the team’s failed wildcat and punt-protector roles, he still expected to start when and if Sanchez failed.

When the Jets moved to release him this off season, only the Patriots came calling, and even their offer came without the assurances of guaranteed money or a set position as Tom Brady’s backup.

Still, Belichick insists, thus far, he likes what he’s seen. "He's got a great work ethic," he said.
