'Call Of Duty 2017' Latest Updates And Rumors: New Job Listing Seeks To Improve Single Player Campaign, Might Add 'Overwatch' Style Heroes

With "Call of Duty 2017" gamers can expect more of the same first-person online multiplayer competitive shooter later this year. But little has changed since Call of Duty 4 pioneered the online shooting genre and gamers are getting tired of the same old formula. A recent job listing from Sledgehammer games may be a sign for new changes the series desperately needs.

"Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" featured a remake of the 3 modern warfare games that made the series a global phenomenon. The game provided an amazing value with 3 bundled classic games remade for the modern console and also included a new entry for the modern warfare series. However, that was not translated into sales of the game as it suffered a decline when compared to past entries of call of duty as reported by PlayStation Lifestyle. "Call of Duty 2017" needs to rework their strategy and provide something different this time out in hopes to stop the slump.

"Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" is still the best-selling game of 2016 but a decline could signal the beginning of a downward spiral. It would be best for Activision to stop the decline or risk the cancellation of the series. Sledgehammer will develop "Call of Duty 2017" and will take the important task of creating something new to recapture the fan's interest and ensure the longevity of the series.

A job posting on Activision's site calls for an Associate Animator to develop in-game and cinematic animations of the highest quality for "Call of Duty 2017". It also states that the developer is looking for the best of the best animators that can create believable human animations in a timely manner. The job requires 2 years of experience in animation for games and has a strong understanding of traditional animation fundamentals.

For a first person shooter game like "Call of Duty 207" animation is one thing that doesn't require that much expertise. A limited perspective that comes from a first person view and animations that can be applied to almost every character in the game does not require some that are the best of the best. It may be possible that the job listing could point to more improvements in the single player campaign as it will feature characters that do not fit the cookie cutter mold of characters. Or maybe we could see an "Overwatch" style where every player can have their own unique set of animations.
