Daniel Cormier Says He's Like Roman Reigns After Getting Booed at UFC 210

Reigning UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier was showered with boos before and after defeating Anthony "Rumble" Johnson at UFC 210 in Buffalo, New York last Saturday. In the post-fight press conference, Cormier compared himself to WWE superstar Roman Reigns.

"DC" entered UFC 210 in a chorus of boos from the Buffalo crowd. He lost the opening round to Johnson but he managed to dominate the second to earn the submission victory, per MMA Fighting. Daniel Cormier was even showered with more boos during his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan.

The reigning champion soaked in all the boos as he berated contenders Jimi Manuwa and Jon "Bones" Jones, who were both at cage side. Cormier is not really the most beloved champion in the UFC today but he really does not care about the boos as long as fans tune in to watch his fights.

In the post-fight press conference, Daniel Cormier was asked about the reception he got from the fans in attendance in Buffalo. He compared his situation to three-time WWE world champion Roman Reigns, who is not the most beloved wrestler in the world today despite being a babyface or the good guy.

"Monday night, Reigns walked out to the ring and they booed him for 10 minutes, would not allow him to talk but it was the most organic crowd that they've had in a really long time. He said 'This is my yard' and he left. It was perfect because they were playing the game for him. That's me," Cormier said, via FOX Sports.

"If I'm in the Octagon and I'm berating Jimi Manuwa and Jon Jones, it's my Octagon," he added.

Daniel Cormier was a former Olympic wrestler for the United States and a former NCAA Division I All-American. He also has 19-1 record in the mixed martial arts but he is a big fan of professional wrestling. He is a fan of Seth Rollins and he was in attendance when Rollins cashed in at WrestleMania 31, per Bloody Elbow.
