The Brooklyn Nets were busy on Thursday night as they agreed on separate trade deals with the Atlanta Hawks and the Denver Nuggets.

The Nets sent revered court general Jeremy Lin to the Hawks in exchange for the rights to 2016 second-round pick Isaia Cordinier and a 2020 second-round pick via Portland. Cordinier has yet to play a single game in NBA after choosing to remain in France.

Besides Lin, the Nets will also send the Hawks a 2025 second-round pick and the privilege to swap second-round picks in the 2023 NBA Draft. Lin, who averaged 14.5 points and 5.1 assists for the Nets in the 2016-17 season, is expected to strengthen the Hawks backcourt that sports Dennis Schroder and Trae Young.

Atlanta will take on the expiring $12.5 million contract of Lin into their cap space. The Hawks finished last season with a 24-58 win-loss record.

The 29-year-old Lin only played a single game last season after suffering from a ruptured patella tendon in the 2017-18 opener. Prior to last season, the former New York Knicks player suited up for just 36 games in the 2016-17 season after being sidelined due to a left hamstring injury.

In his past two seasons in Brooklyn, the Nets failed to put up a good showing finishing with a terrible 48-116 win-loss. Aside from the Knicks and the Nets, Lin has played for the Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers, and the Charlotte Hornets.

Nets Get Faried From Nuggets

After completing a deal with the Hawks, the Nets also traded Isaiah Whitehead to the Denver Nuggets in exchange for Darrell Arthur, Kenneth Faried, a top-12-protected 2019 first-round pick, and a future second-round pick. The Nuggets are expected to waive Whitehead.

Faried hopes to rekindle his game with the Nets after averaging 5.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 0.4 blocks in just 14.4 minutes per game in his seventh season. Faried failed to regain his footing last season after playing lesser minutes behind Mason Plumlee, Nikola Jokic, Wilson Chandler, Paul Millsap, and Trey Lyles. The Morehead State product was a lethal threat on the offensive end during his first six years in the league, averaging 9.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per contest.

Great Move For The Nuggets

Moving Faried and Arthur greatly benefitted the Nuggets, as it will allow them to avoid the luxury tax next season. The 6-foot-8 Faried is to receive $13.8 million next season.

It can be brought to mind that the Nuggets committed $200 million in combined salaries to Jokic and Will Barton. With Faried and Arthur now gone, the Nuggets ultimately saved $21 million.
